研究室簡介

我們結合演化傳遺傳學的學理和基因體學來探討動物族群的基因體特性、遺傳表型的變異和演化。目前研究的方向有上述3個重點。


(1) 草蝦基因體研究 - 序列演化與產業相關性狀的分析

基因體序列(genomic sequences)是研究生物遺傳最完整、最重要的資訊。我們首先以遺傳標記 microsatellite、AFLP 等來建立草蝦的基因圖譜,繼以建構草蝦基因體的fosmid基因庫(fosmid library) 並完成草蝦基因體(genome)與轉錄體(transcriptome)定序>200G。相關資訊參考網址http://sysbio.iis.sinica.edu.tw/page/。草蝦是世界重要的蝦類養殖物種,故研究草蝦對水產生物技術有直接的貢獻,然而更重要的這個研究使吾人對海洋生物的基因體與演化有進一步的瞭解。目前我們正以生物資訊的工具,分析草蝦基因功能並藉以進行分子育種的工作。


(2) 動物腸道菌的多樣性與多源基因體(metagenomics)研究

越來越多的研究顯示動物腸道和共生的微生物群是一個演化的合體。腸道菌群尤其攸關動物的存活,舉凡消化食物、汲取能量和建構免疫力等都有共生微生物的共同參與。促成新興領域”多源基因體學”運應而生,詳見美國科學院文件The new science of metagenomics ( http://dels.nas.edu/Materials/Booklets/Metagenomics-Booklet)。利用新一代高速定序平臺(next generation sequencing or NGS)與高解析質譜儀,我們分析動物腸道菌群與宿主的演化關係,包括生態群落分析、親緣多樣性、功能基因體、代謝質體等等都是研究的重點。


(3) 鳥類羽毛色彩的調控與演化

羽毛是鳥類最獨特的形質,也是椎動物演化過程的重大創新之一。鳥類不僅仰賴羽毛飛行、維持體溫、保護身體,而且演化出各種繽紛的色彩豐富鳥的認知與社會行為。我們著重於研究鳥羽黑色素的基因,利用基因體的研究平台分析黑色素形成的調控方式。這部分與美國南加大(University of Southern California)鍾正明教授合作,參考網址http://www-hsc.usc.edu/~cmchuong/ 。此外,我們同時研究台灣本土野鳥羽毛色彩對其認知擇偶的影響。
